Accessibility guide
Flat, smooth and well maintained, with a 3m wide concrete path circling the lake, suitable for everyone including wheelchair users. There is an accessible bay at Lake Edge Park, and Brightwater Park has an accessible toilet, an accessible viewing deck, benches with back rests and push-button fountains operable from both sides.
This walk is flat, smooth, and well maintained making it suitable for all including wheelchair users.
Although you could start your walk from anywhere around the lake, there are two places we recommend. The first is from the parking area at Lake Edge Park near Manatunga Parade. Here there is a boat ramp and car parking including one accessible parking bay. The second place you could start your walk from is from Freshwater Street opposite Brightwater Park. While there is parking on the street there is no accessible parking. There are accessible parking bays in the shopping centre car park opposite. From there you travel through the shopping centre out onto Freshwater Street and Brightwater Park.
Brightwater Park has a right-hand accessible toilet and two ambulant toilets. There is also a tap and a dog bowl. An accessible viewing deck overlooks the water. There are two playgrounds, the smaller one is accessible via a path, along with undercover tables, benches, and a BBQ. The three-metre-wide concrete path then takes you around the lake.
There are benches with back rests around the lake and push-button water fountains that can be operated from both sides. Outdoor exercise equipment is located at three places around the lake.
Overall, the walk around the lake at Brightwater Waterfront offers a delightful escape, with the serene lake as the centrepiece of this beautiful outdoor experience.
