SUITABLILITY

Highlights
Head up river for a more natural paddle or down river to explore the canals and mouth of the river, this paddle is a real choose your own adventure. Up river has some of the best bird viewing on the coast, once you paddle under Kawana Way it's a quite journey with national park on one side and bush reserve on the other. It makes you feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of the coast. Down river you can explore canals, wharfs and the parks and beaches of Mooloolaba, why not paddle to your favourite lunch spot. A bit longer of a paddle this one is for those with a bit of experience but it’s well worth the effort to get to the upper reaches of the river.
Afterwards
Mooloolaba beach is just around the corner with great food, awesome swimming and a number of great hang out spots.
How to get there
One of the best spots to start for either direction is the Boat ramp off of Brisbane Rd, to get there head to Mooloolaba and then drive to Kawana along Brisbane Road and then take the left hand turn just before the last bridge into Kawana

There's so much scope to explore the Mooloolah River for miles and miles, by canoe, surf ski, ocean ski or SUP, with options to head South away from the busier suburbs and into sections of river where you paddle amongst the trees and birds only... or explore the myriad of canal mazes around the Mooloolaba and Minyama areas, checking out the million dollar properties. This latter option is particularly fun around mid-late December, late afternoon, when the Christmas lights are in action and you can check out who has the lightest and brightest abode!!
